Fans may be wondering what the new normal will look like for the entertainment industry. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the entertainment industry has been uncertain as to what the new entertainment landscape will look like.
As movie theaters begin to re-open worldwide, there are indications that people may forgo the theater experience and watch movies from the comfort of their own homes.
Disney just announced that they are shifting their focus to releasing content via Disney+ and Hulu rather than releasing it through cable programming and theaters.
While the majority of their revenue still comes from network cable deals, people are availing themselves of the variety of streaming choices, canceling their subscriptions and cutting their cable cord. If there is anything that the pandemic has accelerated, it is the move away from cable to streaming services. Disney has made a business decision to lead the shift in the movie and TV industry.
