Tim McGuine PhD, ATC is a Distinguished Scientist in the Department of Orthopedics – Sports Medicine Program at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. His research focus is to better understand the incidence, risk factors, prevention techniques and health related outcomes for injuries and other conditions that can impact the health of adolescent athletes. The cross sectional, cohort and randomized study trials he initiated have utilized 300+ US high schools and sport clubs as data collection sites and enrolled 40,000 adolescent athletes as research participants. This work has resulted in numerous invited presentations at national and international sports medicine symposia as well as the publication of more than 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts in the past decade. In addition to his academic work, he serves on the Sports Medicine Advisory Committees for both the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association and the National Federation of High Schools.
