There has been more action than usual on the field. The Raiders v. Steelers most recent game was more than interesting.
The Las Vegas Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers had drama during and following their Sunday game.
The Steelers offensive lineman Trai Turner was ejected from the game after allegedly spitting at players of the opposing team.
The game ended in a 26-17 loss for the Raiders.
Video shows that Turner spit on Raiders defender Marquel Lee. This apparent spitting incident resulted in Turner’s ejection as well as two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.
Turner Claims His Opponent Spit First
Turner’s head coach Mike Tomlin, as well as his quarterback Ben Roethlisberger defended the player.
“For him to respond the way he responded, what transpired had to transpire,” said Tomlin in a release from CBS Sports.
Ejecting Turner is the right call, as spitting at the opposing team is unnecessary and unsportsmanlike.
Raiders Head Coach Brings More Unnecessary Vulgarity to This Game
Head coach Jon Gruden let a referee hear his opinions loud and clear at this Sunday game as well.
Gruden let the referee have it, and the fans heard every word since he was picked up by the broadcast microphones.
Dramatics were the order of the day throughout the entirety of this Raiders v. Steelers match up.
Fans are split on the dramatic display. While incidents and colorful commentary between coaches and officials can be entertaining, fans expect good sportsmanship.
These incidents show that some players and coaches need to think about what they do and say. Penalties and punishment help send a signal to players, coaches, and fans that behavior on display in the Raiders v. Steelers game was not okay.
