LSU (Louisiana State University) and Caesars announced a multi-year deal, the first Southeastern Conference (SEC) school to have a sports betting partnership.
The state of Louisiana has been preparing to legalize sports betting. The state’s Gaming Control Board recently began reviewing applications for sports betting licenses.
Caesars Entertainment, which now has naming rights to the Superdome in New Orleans, has decided to dive into the college football market.
Betting at properties, restaurants, bars, casinos and online will start soon throughout the state over the next few months.
What’s Involved In the Deal?
Caesars will acquire naming rights of the Skyline Club at Tiger Stadium. They will also have signage rights to LSU’s baseball and basketball stadiums as well.
The company will also receive generous branding and promotional opportunities throughout the university’s sports facilities and stadiums.
Along with branding opportunities, Caesar’s will receive broadcast and more digital marketing opportunities for the university’s men’s and women’s sports programs.
Why is This Deal WITH CAESARS AND LSU so Special?
This deal is the second between a power five conference school and a major betting company.
The University of Colorado Boulder is the other school who has a partnership with a company offering sports betting. They have a deal with the company PointsBet.
In recent events, the NCAA has approved athletes to receive profit from their NIL (name, image, and likeness), and this deal is coming soon after this major change.
Student athletes and students under the age of twenty-one will not participate in advertisements for Caesars or be the target of the marketing.

Caesars is providing a scholarship fund for students from Louisiana who choose to attend Louisiana State University.
The sports betting company is also enhancing their New Orleans Casino (Harrah’s) which is very popular in the state.
Changes in federal and state laws and NCAA policies have paved the way for sports betting. Many of the benefits of these changes are accruing to universities and college athletes.
