DR. Lou's View - THE MASTERS IS A GREAT FAN EXPERIENCE
A friend from Babel Street invited me and my son Chris to join him at the Masters in Augusta. What a fantastic experience! Tiger Woods was getting all the buzz after his long recovery from a horrific road accident, however every player was intent on proving the mettle and win the coveted green jacket.
Although I am a huge golf fan, I was wearing my “fan” hat, trying to soak up the experience. It was a breathtakingly beautiful day, so I was primed for a great experience. I also took time to observe the health, safety, security, and service offerings throughout the day. Was I impressed!
The health and safety protocols were easy to follow and not at all disruptive. In fact, they were just enough to instill confidence in me and other fans, that we were being well taken care of by a well-trained and attentive staff.
In my view, the security and service elements were most impressive. IMPECCABLE is the best way to describe how well the staff served the fans. The staff was there to answer questions and resolve challenges, but they were unobtrusive, allowing the fans to create their own best experience.
Signage and security though visible, was designed to blend in to the beautiful grounds that define Augusta. I knew the security staff was present and the signs were exactly where I needed them to be. Always present, but the signage and security staff stayed in the background.
I took some time to talk to the security team. I knew instantly that Security was extremely knowledgeable about operations and their role. In my view, we were going to be safe and secure throughout the day. It was very comforting, and made the experience even better.
The food and beverage offerings were terrific. I think what surprised me about it is that it was not yet a completely touchless operation. People could serve themselves from a large selection of prepackaged food and beverage choices, but not every aspect was touch free, including the payment system. Who knows what next year will bring?
My day at Augusta with my friend from Babel Street and my son was a memory-making experience throughout my journey.
