The 2021 Emmys show was filled with many highlights, especially since it was able to happen live and in person even with the spread of the Covid-19 Delta Variant.
The 73rd annual Emmys returned live with its celebrity-filled red carpet, and interesting award show.
Throughout the night, many awards were given with Netflix winning many awards, as well as the breakout hit Apple TV show, “Ted Lasso”.
How Did Celebrities and Viewers React Along the Lines of Covid-19?
Though the show was very scaled down, with very limited capacity, it was also held outdoors, under a tent.
No masks were worn at the awards show, after the City of Los Angeles granted an exemption to its mask policy.
Fans responded with Twitter backlash, while some celebrities also did not approve of a maskless event.
The Emmys was not the only big celebrity event held with no masks. The Met Gala was held without masks not long ago as well.
Both the Emmys and the Met Gala did require proof of vaccination.
